women. Also marketed are the US FDA approved Chlamydia DNA,
Gonorrhoeae DNA technologies in the STD area and Cytomegalovirus DNA
technology in immunocompromised and organ transplant area. The other
core area pursued by the company is Hepatitis B, the product profile
is represented by DIGENE’s HBV DNA Hybrid Capture 2 and GENERAL
BIOLOGICAL CORPORATION, Taiwan’s HBV genotype on real time PCR
technology in therapeutic monitoring of chronically infected liver
patients. Soon, the molecular tests for HCV RNA quantitative and
genotyping as well as HIV-1 RNA tests are scheduled for launch.
The Company pursues active interest in promoting MOLECULAR BIOLOGY
DIAGNOSTICS and SPECIALTY IMMUNODIAGNOSTICS in the area of HIV/ AIDS,
HEPATITIS, CANCER and AUTOIMMUNE Markers and other tropical diseases
diagnostics such as MALARIA, TUBERCULOSIS, DENGUE, SALMONELLA etc.

promoted a NATIONAL CLINICAL REFERENCE LABORATORY, which is a support
service in cohesion with top echelon pathology laboratories in India
to commercially promote tests to the Indian Gynaecologists,
Hepatologists and Oncologists at the very competitive prices making a
modern technology in this “genomic era” more affordable to those who
are less fortunate. This laboratory is also designed to routinely
train the laboratory technologists from India and neighboring
countries including Bangladesh and UAE. The laboratory services also
extend to running clinical trials for the therapeutic manufacturers to
monitor the patients at the periodic intervals on the efficacy of the
long-term therapeutic effects. We have already finished two clinical
trials and a third, with a leading multinational is on for last two
years.
The NATIONAL CLINICAL REFERENCE LABORATORY is set up with the
commissioning of Digene’s modern proprietary Hybrid Capture system
consisting of chemiluminescence based 96-well Plate Luminometer, Tube
Luminometer, Rotary Shaker, Heating Block and automated micropipetting
system. The facility launched in May 2001 performs tests on weekly
intervals. The laboratory holds some of the world reputed
Gynaecologists and Hepatologists in India on advisory and consulting
panel, to substantiate our commitment to Indian diagnostic industry.
The Company also plans to create a networking of Referral Laboratories
in the major cities in India through franchisee system involving
financial participation from the leading pathological laboratories.
